We were hoping to head home today, but her counts are low, which means that her body can't really fight off any germs or infections on it's own so we're here at least another day while she gets more antibiotics and we wait to see if the numbers go up or down. As long as they're trending up, we *should* be able to head home as long as she seems to be eating and taking fluids ok. Hopefully that will be tomorrow - we should get a new bloodwork run anytime after midnight tonight and that will give us a better idea.
Kendall seems to be feeling back to normal today, besides a little extra sleepy, which could be due to the low-ish hemoglobin, or could just be due to the fact that it sucks to sleep at the hospital (I'm extra sleepy too!). It appears that Kendall has a normal sleeping respiratory rate of about 17, and the doctors wouldn't set her alarm lower than 19 - which meant it was going off all.night.long! Tonight the monitors are all off, so hopefully we'll both sleep a little better!
As for the past few days, it sounds like the consensus is that she had a mild virus (perhaps the stomach bug, she did throw up once) and because of that she was a bit dehydrated which was making her heart rate soar. Fevers have been gone since Friday, heart rate was back to normal yesterday and she's finally being her crazy self today! (I'll be honest though, it was easier keeping her occupied in this tiny room when she wasn't being her normal crazy self, although of course I'm glad she's feeling better!) The numbers dropping are probably just from the chemo and unrelated to everything else.
So as always, thanks for all those vibes, thoughts and prayers - they definitely help do the trick!

Thanks for keeping us posted. You all have definitely been in my prayers. Sending you lots of love.
ReplyDeleteAny time she needs a smile or laugh from Mickey, just give me a call or FaceTime :) It was great seeing her the other night, she's lucky to have such a great mom, dad, brother and family.
