Week one is in the bag...

Well, we started the chemo process last Monday. The hardest part so far was the hospital stay on Monday night - Brett hung out with us for the day, but went home to sleep at home with Fin. Neither Kendall or I got much sleep at all.

Her central line doesn't seem to bother her at all except she doesn't like looking at it, so she doesn't like being hooked up to the IV, and she doesn't like getting the dressing changed.

As for the actual chemo, the first time didn't seem so bad. Her breakfast tray showed up right when they were starting it, so she ended up eating the whole time while watching TV, and it was over before we knew it. We also got a special delivery from my mom friends right before it started, so she had a huge balloon arrangement and some new books to check out and keep her occupied. We were home in time for dinner and ready to settle in and see how this was all going to go.

Kendall started out this whole process with a cold (in fact, we weren't sure we were going to be able to start last Monday because of it) and her canines are just busting through - so it's been an interesting week all around. She had a fever on Wednesday, so we ended up spending the afternoon at Children's getting some antibiotics (they treat all fevers as if they're an infection - we weren't worried since we knew there were so many reasons for her to have a fever)... At least we didn't have to wonder how that would go since we found out our first day home.

The last week has been filled with lots of snot, lots of cuddling, and lots of tantrums (from all of us)... It's a lot like having a newborn again - Kendall wants to be held a lot, so it makes it hard to get a lot done, and Fin is really noticing all the changes and he's been having a hard time. But overall, she's acting mostly like normal, and we're all doing well. The extra visits and help from family and friends don't hurt either.
