My mom picks Finley up from school on chemo days, but had a meeting this afternoon so we planned on her bringing Finley down to us at the hospital when she was on her way. He woke up this morning freaking out because we were gone already, so I assumed that he would have awful behavior all day. Once he woke up all the way, and they finally got out the door, he seemed to turn it all around.
Fin got dropped off just after the chemo was finished and they were switching her over to fluids. He came up and was really happy to see all of us.
Shortly after he got there, a Child Life Specialist came up to see and talk to him. She was trying to talk to him about what was going on with Kendall, and he was doing fine, but just wanted to play. As she was getting ready to leave, I remembered that they had a puppet with a central line, and I asked her to bring it up. She did, and she gave Finley some doctor stuff, and some alcohol swabs, and other things that we use for Kendall's line. It was neat because he could see, touch and play with Spike's central line which he obviously can't do with Kendall's. It was so awesome to see how much he takes in - he knew exactly what to do! He is such an observant little guy. It made me so proud. He had a really good time, and said that he felt better seeing what we do.
We got home and all took naps! That was awesome - it's not often that we all get to :) We had a fun evening playing, and Fin and Brett had a good time making some french toast for the kids for dinner. Kendall seemed to be feeling fine, and Fin had the best behavior that he's had in a while. It was such a relief. I hope things keep getting easier!
